Issue 5
Scene 1
The Devil and Michael continue to battle.
Michael is still avoiding the skeletons when he goes on the offensive.
Angels of Mercy
Michael creates two small winged angels that fly up in the air and to each side of him. The two small angels strum on small harps and the sound waves rip up the ground and knock the Devil off of his feet.
Heavens Fury
Michael then holds his hand in the air. The sky splits open and a ray of sunshine shines on the Devil.
The Devil screams in pain. His flesh burning and peeling.
Little Devils
The Devil’s body swells up and explodes into smaller versions of himself. They run around laughing and then surround Michael.
Cluster Bomb
The smaller Devil’s run in at Michael and all explode at once. Michael screams in pain. When the smaller Devils explode they create even smaller Devil’s. Then those smaller Devil’s explode. Then even many more smaller Devil’s are created and then they explode. This continues a couple more times. By this time Michael is on his knees.
Holy Radiance
Michael creates a domed burst of light around him sending the smaller Devil’s flying through the air.
Scene 2
Longinus and Craze continue to fight when Longinus kicks Craze into the air. Craze flies up fast, but slowly descends down. Before Craze is on the ground Longinus jumps into the air and puts his arm through Craze’s chest. They both fall to the ground. Longinus is still standing, but Craze’s body is limp. Longinus’ arm is completely extended through Craze’s chest and his blood covered hand exiting from his back. Craze stares blankly at a laughing Longinus.
Longinus
“I finally figured you out, little one. You control the density of your body. If it’s light you fly. If it’s hard you can take anything I hit you with.”
Craze just stares at Longinus.
Longinus reflects back on his life.
Scene 3
We see a large Roman soldier standing guard over 3 crucified men. Longinus is the Roman soldier. The two men that ran into each other and became one are on the left and right side and Joshua with a beard is in the middle. Joseph and the Virgin Mary are present and the Virgin Mary is crying.
Joshua
“Mother please don’t cry. It will be over soon.”
Virgin Mary
“My son.”
Joshua
“God has forsaken me. He has forsaken us all. Where is my wife? Where is Mary?”
Mags is Mary Magdalene.
Mags
“I am here, my love.”
Joshua
“Don’t forget me. Raise our child and let him know I love him.”
Mags
“And what if it’s a girl?”
Joshua
“Raise her to be strong like her mother.”
Virgin Mary
“Please soldier. End my son’s life. Show him mercy. I no longer wish to see him suffer.”
Longinus
“I don’t take orders from filthy Jews,… but I do take money.”
Joseph
“I will give you all that I have if you end my son’s misery.”
Joseph hands Longinus a coin satchel and Longinus shakes the purse. Longinus then walks over and stabs Joshua in the side of his body with the spear.
Joseph
“That is no act of mercy. He will suffer even more.”
Longinus
“You get what you pay for. He will now bleed out faster. So be gone, before I place you all on crosses.”
Mags
“You monster.”
Virgin Mary, Mags, and Joseph leave. Joshua looks to the men hanging on the crosses on both sides of him.
Joshua
“Brothers. What are your names? I will pray for you as I wait for death.’
Gestas
“I am Gestas.”
Said the man on the left.
Dismas
“And I am Dismas.”
Said the man on his right.
Joshua
“I am Jesus of Nazareth, and on this day we die together.”
Joshua hangs bleeding as Gestas and Dismas are beside him. Longinus stands guard over them until all three of them die from their wounds.
Longinus thinks back on his life.
“I was born in the slums of Rome. My mother a whore and my father a Roman Centurion. I was a bastard left to survive on only my wits and strength alone. One of many thousands of bastards roaming around the Subura.
I joined the legion at the age of 14. I wasn’t eager to take orders, but I did look forward to being fed on a regular basis.
I spoke the Sacramentum Militare and swore to faithfully execute all that the Emperor commands, that I shall never desert the service, and that I shall not seek to avoid death for the Roman Republic.
I fought in the Battle of Arbalo under Nero Claudius Drusus to defeat the Gaul’s. When Caesar Augustus died in 14 B.C. I swore loyalty to the new Emperor Tiberius.
I worked my way up through the ranks, from a lowly soldier to being commissioned Centurion by the Emperor himself.
After my promotion, I was stationed in Jerusalem under the charge of Governor Pontius Pilate. An arrogant man of noble birth. Cruel and barbarous in actions, but stoic and composed at all times.
He would promote me to Praefectus Castrorum and I would be placed in charge of the garrison keeping order in Judea. I was chosen personally by Pilate to participate in the torture and crucifixion of a young Jewish upstart by the name of Jesus.
Pilate and I spent many hours abusing the young man in private. We both took pleasure in the pain that I caused the young, self professed prophet. He cried for mercy before we had even started. He was a very weak man and not the faith filled hero that the Bible would eventually portray him as.
After the crucifixion, I was arrested by Pilate for the act of mercy I showed towards the Jewish prisoner.
Up to that point it was the only act of mercy that I had ever shown to anyone and I swore that it would also be the last.
I was tortured for weeks and then sentenced to the gladiator pits. I fought in many events over many months. Pilate was beside himself as I bested whatever champions he placed in front of me. I remained undefeated and the crowd screamed my name in adoration.
My last fight, I was worn down. I was starved and unhealthy. I slowly walked into the arena as the crowd chanted my name.
I fought against four other gladiators, in an every man for himself bout, but it soon became clear that it was all of them against me.
Even in my weakened state, the other gladiators were no match for me. I had slain all four men within minutes and the crowd erupted in applause.
I could see that Pilate was furious. I was expected to suffer. I was expected to die. Yet, I still lived.
That was when Pilate rose from his chair at the top of the stadium. He looked at me and then to the crowd. He stretched out his arm and gave me a thumbs down gesture. The crowd cheered and I rejoiced as Pilate had spared my life.
However, Pilate was never an honorable man. It was then that a dozen lions were released into the pit. The crowd was furious, but Pilate did not care. I looked for a weapon, but none were close. I managed to kill three lions with my bare hands before they all pounced on me.
I finally succumbed to my fate. I welcomed death as if it were a long lost friend. I embraced it as I drew my last breath. I no longer cared. The world had forsaken me and the feeling was mutual. I no longer clung to life. I only wished to leave it.
Time had passed. I was not sure for how long. I awoke to see a group standing above me. To my surprise I saw the two thieves that I had crucified, the Jewish woman that the man Jesus called wife, a man I would later find out was Judas, and the King of Jerusalem, King Herod himself.
I did attempt to kill them after I woke up, but I was bound to the bench on which I was placed.
King Herod had explained to me about the Seven and that he was actually known as Cain. He demonstrated to me his powers and I believed him.
Cain asked me to join him and his group and I accepted. On that day we would all go our separate ways.
Cain would continue as King of Jerusalem. Gathering money and resources for our cause. Judas and Mary would sail east on the Mediterranean to the land of Gaul. Mary carried the baby of one of the Seven and Cain said that the baby had to be protected at all costs. The two thieves would stay with Cain and I was given a special mission to fulfill.
I can’t tell you why I accepted Cain’s offer. Maybe the reason was that I had taken orders for most of my life and didn’t want to have to think for myself again. Maybe I just wanted my life to have purpose. I don’t really know.
The morning we parted, Cain made a dozen clones of himself to ride along and protect Judas and Mary.
The clones could only survive for so long after they left Cain and could only travel a certain distance away from him.
Cain wasn’t sure how far away they could travel from him, but they would protect Mary and the unborn baby for as long as they could.
I was ordered to travel to Italy before our rendezvous in Gaul. I eventually completed my mission to recruit one more member for the Naga and met up with the group.
After the baby was born, I left the Naga for a while. I would wander back every so often, but I never stayed with them for too long.
I always itched for battle. I would participate in many conflicts over the next 2000 years.
I did not always choose the winning side, but it was enjoyable to kill nonetheless.
I found myself fighting for and against Rome many times over the next few centuries. Back then they were the only game in town.
Later, I would fight in the Crusades against the infidels. Even though I already knew the truth about Christianity.
I fought in the 100 year war and the 80 year war. I would fake my death many times after so many years of fighting. Switching sides, and then switching back again.
I would fight for the English in the American Revolution. How I hated the Americans during those years, but after we lost I stayed in America and fought in as many conflicts as I could. I fought the English in 1812 and countless native savages and Spanish in the west.
I would fight for the North during the Civil War and the Americans for every war after that.
Those Americans sure do love their wars. They have a conflict every generation or so and no country knows war better than America.
It was during this time that I became enlightened to the making of money through war.
If you invest in the right company before a conflict, you can make a lot of money. War and money are what motivates me now, but I told Cain that when they needed me I would be there.”
Scene 4
Back to the abandoned building. Longinus continues to laugh as his hand is plunged into Craze’s chest. Craze has his eyes closed.
Longinus
“You were the strongest opponent I have ever faced. It is a shame that you have to meet your end today.”
Craze opens his eyes and his arm turns into a black shadow. Craze slices off Longinus’ arm and Longinus screams out in pain. Craze pulls Longinus’ severed arm out from his body.
Craze
“We’re not finished yet.”
Longinus
“Aaargh!!!! How?”
Craze
“You may be an instrument of death, but I am already dead.”
Craze then strikes Longinus with his own severed arm and knocks him unconscious.
Scene 5
We see Phil driving and he pulls up to a hotel. He walks in and knocks on a door.
We see Twisted crack open the door a few inches and peek out.
Twisted
“You’re early.”
Phil
“No, you’re late. You were supposed to be outside.”
Phil pushes open the door and enters the hotel room.
Inside the room is an older white man in only boxer shorts. He is tied up and gagged and sitting in a chair. He is bleeding from multiple cuts on his body.
Phil
“I see you’ve found another one.”
Twisted
“It’s not hard. Men are such perverts.”
Phil
“Well kill him already and be done with it.”
Twisted
“No. I want to play.”
Phil
“We have to go.”
Twisted
“You never let me have fun.”
Phil
“Well hurry up. I’ll be out in the car.”
Twisted
“Okay, give me 5 minutes.”
Phil walks out of the hotel room and closes the door behind him.
Twisted walks up to the old guy holding a knife in her hand. She gently runs it across his cheek.
Twisted
“Today is your lucky day.”
The old man tries to talk, but his words are muffled from the gag.
Twisted
“Honey. Shush.”
Twisted places her finger over the gag and the old man’s lips.
Twisted
“You want me to let you go?”
The old man shakes his head up and down. He tries To talk again, but the words are still muffled.
Twisted
“Let me guess. You will never do it again, right?”
The old man shakes his head up and down and once again his words are muffled.
Twisted
“It was your first time?”
The old man does the same as before. Shaking his head up and down and muffled words.
Twisted
“Well usually I would torture you for hours before I let you go, but since my brothers here, it seems I’m out of time.”
“You want me to let you go?”
The old man does the same as before. Shaking his head up and down and muffled words.
Twisted
“You swear you will never do it again?”
The old man does the same as before. Shaking his head up and down and muffled words.
Twisted
“Okay then. I’ll let you go.”
The old man begins sobbing uncontrollably.
Twisted
“Let me just cut you loose.”
Twisted smiles and reaches down with the knife and makes a cutting motion.
The old man screams out in pain. He is pictured with blood running down his legs.
Twisted
“Oops, that wasn’t the rope.
Well, I guess you can’t pick up little girls anymore without a dick.”
Twisted starts to laugh.
Twisted
“If I had more time I would just sit here and watch you bleed out.
“But I don’t.”
“So I won’t.”
Twisted takes the knife and thrusts it into the old man’s shoulder and makes a cutting motion. She then pulls out the knife. Blood squirts everywhere.
Twisted
“That’s your subclavian artery I just cut. It’s game over for you.
You did get lucky today.
You’re lucky my brother showed up and I didn’t make you suffer.”
Twisted turns around and walks out of the hotel room door. We see the old man with his head slumped as the door shuts. He’s dead
