Issue 8
Scene 1
The Devil and Michael continue to fight.
The Devil pulls the huge javelin made of light from his body. He then stands up.
Michael
“I’m stronger than you give me credit for.”
Deadly Storm.
Dark clouds form only over the Devil. The Devil is struck by a series of lightning bolts. The Devil drops to his knees again.
Devil
“You know that neither of us is able to defeat the other.”
Michael
“You could surrender.”
Devil
“Or you could just give me the body and I can be on my way.”
Michael
“Not going to happen.”
Devil
“I sense that your master is approaching.”
Michael
“He is not my master.”
We see Joshua walking up. He’s wearing ancient robes and sandals and has a long beard. His figure starts small and gets larger as he gets closer.
Devil
“I was wondering when you would arrive. Two against one is the only way you can defeat me.”
Joshua
“You have it all wrong. I won’t be joining in your battle.”
Devil
“And why not?”
Joshua
“You sound disappointed brother.”
While they talk, a clone of the Devil rises up from the ground next to the body of Moses. The body of Moses is very far away now. The Devil tricked Michael into distancing themselves from the body as they fought.
Devil
“Maybe I am.”
As they all three talk the clone of the Devil walks up to the dead body of Moses and rips a finger off of the hand of Moses. The clone then disappears.
Joshua
“You won’t get the body of Moses.”
Devil
“Well it was worth a try.”
Joshua
“He is one of my finest specimens. I have to work on shortening the lifespans of the next batch. This test group is living far too long.”
Devil
“You and your experiments. What will you do now?”
Joshua
“I whispered in the ear of Moses for many years. I created conflict in Egypt and helped his people escape bondage.
Now we will enter the land of Canaan and start a war. More death. More energy.”
Devil
“They are living beings. They have the right to live as they please.”
Joshua
“These primates only serve one purpose. You have lost sight of what is important, brother.”
Devil
“I may have believed in your cause at one time, but now I walk a different path.”
Joshua
“Michael, can you destroy the body? I would rather see it gone then let him have it.
Until we see each other again.”
Michael flies up into the sky and incinerates the body of Moses with a lightning bolt.
The Devil reverts to his human form now revealing that he is Natas. Natas then disappears in a cloud of black smoke.
Scene 2
Amalgam and Adam continue fighting.
Frankie is controlling Adam’s movements.
Adam creates a medieval mace on one hand and a battle ax on the other out of his flesh.
He begins to swing and connect on Amalgam.
Amalgam
“You have made this a challenge.”
Amalgam then starts to throw a flurry of punches.
Scene 3
Amalgam thinks back.
“We were once the two thieves crucified with Jesus.
I Dismas, was sorry for my actions.
And I Gestas, wish I had never been caught. Not because I felt remorse, but because I wanted to commit more crimes.
Jesus had suffered from his wound delivered by the Roman soldier and he perished before the both of us. Both of us hung on our crosses for two more days.
We suffered a slow and painful death. In the end we were content to finally be rid of this life, but maybe life felt the same way about us.
We welcomed the empty darkness like a long lost brother and embraced the void.
We awoke some time later in a shallow grave. The weight of the Earth crushing our bodies.
Can you imagine the horror?
It was completely dark and the soil suffocated us. We panicked as we both started to claw our way out of our earthen tomb. We could hear others above us and we could see that we were being helped out by four men that all looked exactly the same.
We found out later they were the clones of Cain.
After we escaped our grave we were then taken to King Herod.
We were shocked to see he had the same face as the men that had dug us out.
It was then that we were told the truth about Cain’s true identity and the Seven.
We were allotted a short period of rest before Cain had sent us on our first mission.
We were tasked with the killing of Judas Iscariot. A disciple of the man who was crucified with us. We searched for days and eventually came upon him in a field outside of Jerusalem.
He was already dead when we found him. It appeared that he had hung himself, but the branch that supported him had broke and his body fell to the ground.
When we had found him, his body was being ravaged by a pack of wild dogs.
We chased the mongrels away and collected what was left of his body.
We were tasked with not only killing him, but to retrieve the body as well.
We threw his body into a cart and drug him back to the palace.
We weren’t sure how long he was dead for, but as we were walking back, we could see the wounds on his body start to heal.
He was still dead, but by the time we reached the palace there were no visible injuries on his body anywhere. We entered the gates of the palace and were escorted by the Royal Guard to the King’s throne room. Once inside Cain ordered his guards to leave and not to allow anyone to enter. No matter what they heard from behind the doors.
We waited hours and then suddenly we heard Judas scream. We could see a bright light emanating from his body. It blinded us and once our eyesight had recovered we could see that Judas was sitting upright and alive.”
Judas
“Where am I?”
Cain
“You are safe. “
Judas
“But how? How am I alive?”
Cain
“That is a long story.”
Cain begins to tell Judas about the Seven and the task that they must undertake.
Judas
“So my friend, the man known as Jesus is not from this world?”
Cain
“Yes, that is true.”
Judas
“That would explain a good many things. I witnessed him perform miracle after miracle. I thought many times that he wasn’t a normal man.”
Right then Mags walks out.
Judas
“You are here as well?”
Mags
“Yes.”
Judas
“Do you forgive me?”
Mags
“There is nothing to forgive.”
Judas
“I turned him in to be arrested.”
Mags
“He asked you to.”
Judas
“You knew?”
Mags
“I knew everything. Including that you shared his bed.”
Judas looks down at the ground ashamed.
Judas
“I was a fool.”
Mags
“Then we all were.”
Judas
“So what now?’
Cain
“We protect the baby at all costs.”
Judas
“Baby?”
Mags
“Yes, I am with child.”
Judas
“Then we must kill it.”
Mags
“No.”
Cain
“No. We must protect the baby at all costs.”
Judas
“But why?”
Cain
“All I know is that the baby is important to him. That’s all the reason we need.
Judas you will go with Mary by ship to the land of Gaul. A town called Marseille.”
Mags
“I will no longer go by that name. From this point forward I shall be known as Mags.”
Cain
“Well you and Judas will leave in the morning. You will also take the father and mother of that thing named Jesus. They are in danger. Tell them nothing about us or our mission.”
Judas
“And what of you?”
Cain
“Eventually we will all join you. We will need resources for the coming struggle so before we depart Judaea, I will plunder the coffers. Our lives are in each other’s hands. We all have history, but we must set it aside for the greater good.”
They all look at each other.
“We are the Naga from this day forth. We answer to no kings and no Gods. I swear to protect everyone here as well as the baby. Do you all swear?”
They all say.
“I swear.”
Cain
“Guards you may enter.”
The guards enter the room.
“Take my guests to the hall for food and drink. I will join you all shortly. Now do not bother me for any reason. I wish to be alone.”
They all follow the guards out except Cain.
Cain now stands alone.
We see Natas enter the throne room.
Natas
“Quite a moving speech.”
Cain
“I meant every word of it.”
Natas
“I’m sure you did. That baby has to be protected.”
Cain
“You still haven’t told me why that baby is so important.”
Natas
“I really don’t know why. The baby will be half man and half of what we are. All I know is that he plans on using the baby for his needs.”
Right then a Guard comes back into the throne room.
He sees Natas and Cain standing there.
He freezes in terror and urinates on himself. We see what he sees, which is Cain as King Herod and Natas in his Devil form.
Cain
“I said, I was not to be disturbed.”
Natas pauses time.
Natas
“It is my fault. I didn’t wear the fragrance I created so they could see me as a human.”
Cain
“Fragrance?”
Natas
“Yes. I took a sample of one of Joshua’s best specimens. From that I created a fragrance so anyone in the same room as me will see me as human.”
Cain
“Joshua?”
Natas
“Joshua, Jesus, whatever he calls himself.”
Natas walks up to the guard and holds out his hand. He sucks the energy from the guard. The guard withers and dies.
Cain
“You didn’t have to do that.”
Natas
“Oh, but I did.”
Cain
“What do they see?”
Natas
“I don’t know for sure. When I split from my brothers to fight for your side, they manipulated mankind to see me as some type of monster. I have tried to find out, but they usually die from fear before I can ask.”
Cain
“And why don’t I see it?”
Natas
“Because you were one of the first. If you don’t mind me asking, what do you see when you look at me?”
Cain
“Your outer shell is shaped like a man, but all I see is a divine light.”
Natas
“Well, your guard saw something horrifying. He would have never recovered.”
Cain
“So we have an alliance?”
Natas
“Yes.”
Cain
“You know I really don’t trust you.”
Natas
“I wouldn’t trust me either.”
Scene 4
Frankie is still pressing buttons at the console.
Adam and Amalgam are trading punches when Amalgam starts getting the better of Adam.
Frankie
“Adam you will have to forgive me, but we have to finish this.”
Adam
“I’m trying.”
Amalgam
“Trying to do what?”
Adam
“I’m not talking to you.”
Amalgam
“We are the only ones here.”
Frankie
“Son, I’m going to end this. I’ve turned off your pain receptors and before you know it you will be home.”
Adam
“I like home.”
Frankie presses a few more buttons when Adam grabs Amalgam and wraps his flesh around him like a blanket.
Adam’s head sprouts fleshy wings and detaches from his body.
Adam then flies away talking to himself while his body blows up, killing Amalgam.
We see the words “Mortality” on the view screen.
Scene 5
We see the jet that Rahab and Nimrod were in flying through the sky.
Rahab
“Almost there. I’ll cloak us before we land. There’s a place to set down right behind that building.”
We see everyone fighting through the windshield of the jet.
Rahab
“What the hell is going on down there?”
Nimrod shrugs his shoulders.
The jet cloaks and lands behind the building.
They open the door to see Joshua and Michael standing there.
